Kirkwood Knittery is thrilled to welcome Mary Beth Temple the weekend of July 17 and 18.
Mary Beth Temple is the author of The Secret Language of Knitters, Adventures of A Croched Zealot, and Hooked for Life.
Mary Beth Temple is a frequent contribuor to knitting and crochet magazines and the host of the popular podcast, Getting Loopy. At shows and conventions, Mary Beth is one of our favorite people to hang out with, because of her exuberant personality and wonderful sense of humor. Mary Beth is a wonderful teacher, and we are thrilled to be able to offer the following classes for you:
Saturday July 17 5:00-7:00 Free
Join us for a reception and book signing. Copies of Hooked for Life will be available for purchase here.
Saturday July 17, 10:00-12:30 Class Fee: $35
Mary Beth developed this class for the very beginning crocheter. In this class we will make a beautiful scarf, using only single crochet. In order to use class time efficiently, Mary Beth would like every student to have a basic familiarity with single crochet, so we have set up times for intro to crochet classes below.
Saturday July 17, 2:00-4:30 Class Fee: $35
This class was developed just for us! I mentioned to Mary Beth that many of you want to learn how to work crochet edges of finishes for your knitted sweaters. The result is this session. We will work a knitted cuff, or gauntlet, and then pick up and crochet an edging on it. The skills you learn in this session will enable you to finish your sweaters, shawls, or blankets with interesting crochet edges.
Sunday, July 18, 9:00-12:00
Class Fee: $40
In this class, you will learn about the business of being a professional designer. If you’ve only designed one thing, you’re still a designer. Even if you don’t want to do this full-time, or even more than once, the more professional you are, the happier your editors and you will be. In this class, we’ll walk step by step through the entire submission process. By the end of the class, you’ll have a to-do list to get you through your first submission.
Skill level, intermediate and up. This is not a design class, (you can take the Design 101 class at Kirkwood Knittery!), or a pattern-writing class.
